Penguins wearing sunglasses, a polar bear holding a designer handbag and Cinderella with her magic carriage -- not a scene from a Walt Disney movie but Christmas displays at Paris' Galeries Lafayette department store which turned on its seasonal sparkle on Tuesday (November 6). An elephant dressed in a Louis Vuitton drape clumsily pushed the button to turn on the lights on the facade of the famous retailer. Wacky and whimsical animal models replaced the usual mannequins which sport the latest seasonal trends. Passers-by stopped to admire the decorations. A giant Christmas tree was put up inside the gallery, and lights glimmered on the store's facade.
