The G20 summit has concluded in St Petersburg, but bitter divisions remain over the possibility of military action in Syria. The cartoon by Bob from The Telegraph shows Syrian President Bashar al-Assad watching the G20 summit live on TV. The world leaders are fighting. Obama is poking Putin in the eye, and the Russian leader has David Cameron in a headlock. French President François Hollande looks on as flames rise behind him. Assad comments, "Someone should intervene ...". The irony should be obvious.
If you intervene in a situation, you become involved in it and try to change it. • The situation calmed down when police intervened.
