The cartoon by Mac from the Daily Mail shows a distraught Mafia boss surrounded by mobsters (the violin cases contain guns, of course!). The newspaper headline and the telephone lead us to assume that the boss has just learnt that he has not been chosen as a godfather to Prince George. One of the gangsters consoles him by saying, "Aw, cheer up, boss. Maybe next time. The kid's got plenty godfathers."
The cartoonist plays on two meanings of the word 'godfather': 'a very powerful man in a criminal organization, especially the Mafia' and 'a male godparent'. Marlon Brando played a Mafia godfather in Coppola's famous Godfather trilogy. The 'kid' is Prince George, of course.
