Kris Jagasia recently sent me an email to tell me about a new site Off2Class. Kris co-founded the site with James Heywood, who has been teaching EFL/ESL for a number of years, most recently in Istanbul. Over the years he's developed his own lesson plans for private lessons since he felt that the existing resources available online were not suitable for conversational, private ESL lessons. Kris and James have now released the lesson plans on a "simple web platform" to "see if other private EFL teachers would find them useful".
Kris is much too modest - Off2Class is a very professional and well-designed site. The lessons are in the form of PowerPoint-style presentations with pictures, vocabulary and quizzes - all accompanied by teaching notes. I'm sure that anyone teaching lower-level students one-to-one or in small groups would find these materials a godsend. And the really neat thing is that the student(s) can follow the lesson on their own device (computer or tablet) once the teacher has registered them. I can imagine this working very well with lessons given over the phone or Internet (using Skype for the voice, for example). At present the coverage is a bit uneven (7 lessons on the future, and none on the present perfect), but hopefully Kris and James will add more resources as time goes by. Highly recommended!
