Finnish YouTube sensation Sara Marie Forsberg’s video, ''What Languages Sound like to Foreigners'', has received more than nine million hits in a short time. Tara Cleary reports.
REPORTER: Sara Marie Forsberg doesn't speak Estonian, Russian - or even French. But her video imitating these and other languages is a YouTube sensation, with more than nine million hits to date. The 19-year-old says she wanted to do something fun and creative with her camera in her spare time, but had no expectations for the video.
SARA MARIE FORSBERG: "I just always loved languages, always loved like learning different languages, learning different phrases, dialects all that stuff, I just really always loved that and in just like the spur of the moment I decided to make this silly little video."
REPORTER: Forsberg really only speaks three languages; Finnish, Swedish and English. And she says some are more difficult to mimic than others.
SARA MARIE FORSBERG: "Maybe Portuguese I think. Some of the nuances that I don't really recognize and they are kind of hard for me, but, yeah, otherwise I like doing them all."
REPORTER: The pseudo linguist has since posted an updated video, as well as one in which she mimics 14 different styles of music. Forsberg put her life on hold to work on her video projects - and perhaps that will pay off with a successful performing career.
Her English is near perfect but she does pronounce 'nuance' wrongly.
