This cartoon by Bob from The Telegraph combines two news stories: the Luis Suarez biting incident and David Cameron's defeat over the appointment of Jean-Claude Juncker as head of the European Commission.
Juncker is shown sinking his teeth into Cameron's shoulder (just like Suarez did to Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini). However, the match officials (Angela Merkel and François Hollande) are looking the other way and fail to see the incident (just like the Mexican ref on Tuesday).
The title of the cartoon 'Foul Play' is a sporting term used to describe behaviour that is not fair or honest or that does not keep to accepted rules. According to Cameron, this is the case with the appointment of Juncker.
Cameron is wearing a number 10 England shirt, possibly a reference to Number 10 Downing Street, the UK PM's official residence. It's more likely though that it refers to German media descriptions of the PM as 'the Wayne Rooney of Europe" (Rooney wears the number 10 shirt when he plays for England). German media ridiculed both the PM and the English football team by mockingly comparing Cameron and Rooney, saying of them both: 'He line up, he loses, he goes home'. Read more >>
