David Cameron was forced into a humiliating apology yesterday after his former spin doctor Andy Coulson was found guilty of conspiracy to hack phones. In an extraordinary day, which saw former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks cleared of all charges after an eight-month trial, Mr Cameron was accused of bringing ‘a criminal into the heart of Downing Street’.
