This Mr Bean sketch (like many others) can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom (see below for some other lesson plans), but I decided to use it to practice the past simple tense. My EM Normandie students all have iPads, so I was able to prepare a textivate sequence for them. Unfortunately, I can't embed that, but I have embedded a re-ordering activity below.
• Click here for more textivate activities based on the same text.
• Click here to download a Word file with more lesson materials including an English-French glossary, a transcript (see note below), another version of the re-ordering activity, and a past tense test based on the video. There's also a questionnaire about sandwiches, which makes a good follow-up speaking activity.
• Click here to download a PowerPoint with pictures of sandwiches. You could use this to pre-teach some vocabulary before the speaking activity.
There are loads of other ways you could exploit this video at different levels (my students were lower-intermediate), but I'm sure you're not short of ideas!
I used the DVD version in class. This has another 30 seconds at the beginning in which Mr Bean and the man have a brief conversation.
